What are joint injections?

At Belfast Private GP, joint injections are carried out by experienced doctors following a full clinical assessment. This service is lead by Dr Magee who has performed over 4000 joint and soft tissue injections.

Depending on your symptoms and diagnosis, this may involve a corticosteroid (cortisone) injection to reduce inflammation, often combined with local anaesthetic to provide rapid pain relief. For knee arthritis, hyaluronic acid injections may also be offered to improve joint lubrication and movement.

Where appropriate, injections can be carried out on the same day as your consultation.
